This project explores the feasibility of growing sesame, a high value crop, in Western Colorado, including growing with variable water availability. This pilot phase research study will test irrigation timing and variety of plant species. The goal is to reduce consumptive water use compared to crops commonly grown in the area, and find a high value crop to add to local farmers' rotations.
