Saving Tomorrow’s Agriculture Resources (STAR) is a national, non-profit organization leading work with state level Affiliates and conservation partners to empower farmers and ranchers to choose conservation as the standard on all agricultural lands to ensure a legacy of economic sustainability and clean, abundant water and healthy soils for future generations.
The goal of STAR is to facilitate successful and sustained conservation practice adoption and implementation by farmers and ranchers at scale by providing STAR Affiliates with a comprehensive toolkit and tailored guidance to empower producer success and to connect them to incentive programs.
Created by producers, for producers.

The STAR Tool evaluation system assigns points for management activities at a field level on an annual basis. Participants answer a series of simple questions about their management and conservation practices, including crop rotation, tillage and nutrient applications in cropland systems and their grazing plan, drought management and active monitoring in rangeland systems to generate their overall field score. The STAR framework is adaptable and seamlessly integrates with local and regional partner program priorities.
STAR participants receive a Conservation Innovation Plan, free & unbiased technical support, public recognition for conservation accomplishments and progress, and connections to financial incentives and market-driven opportunities that support practice implementation.

Designed to be simple and easy, the free, confidential STAR Tool provides a quick assessment of conservation progress on individual fields by generating a 1-to-5 STAR rating, with options to order a STAR field sign, connect with a STAR Navigator for individual technical assistance, and explore resources and programs, including a variety of incentives.
